CRANIOFACIAL

SURGERY

Cleft lip, palate, congenital and other facial differences are all conditions that can be treated with reconstructive craniofacial surgery to restore confidence and improve your quality of life.

Dr Allan is passionate about this area of surgery and is one of the few Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons in Queensland with specialised craniofacial training.

Working with the team at the Young Adult Craniofacial Surgery Unit at the Mater Hospital Brisbane, Dr Allan uses state-of-the-art techniques and procedures to perform a broad range of work from double jaw surgery to rhinoplasty and recontouring of facial asymmetries.

Trauma Reconstruction

If you’ve suffered from facial trauma, you may have soft tissue or bone injuries in need of reconstruction; Dr Allan is well-equipped and highly experienced in this area. The surgical techniques used for facial skeletal trauma involve realigning and stabilising fractured bones. There are various methods available such as using plates and screws, bone grafts or bone substitutes.

In addition to bone repair, other procedures may be performed to address soft tissue injuries, such as lacerations or damage to nerves, blood vessels, or facial muscles. This may include microsurgery to reconnect severed nerves or blood vessels.

The treatment of facial skeletal trauma requires a comprehensive and individualised approach to address the specific needs of each patient. By applying a combination of surgical expertise and advanced imaging technologies, Dr Allan aims to restore function, alleviate pain, and restore the aesthetic appearance of the face to the greatest extent possible.
