SURGERY

Breast surgery is a personal decision, and Dr Allan approaches it with the utmost respect and discretion. As a Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, his expertise extends across all types of aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery.

If you’re considering one of the procedures below, Dr Allan will guide you through a private and confidential consultation, discussing your options and creating a personalised surgical plan to achieve your goals. Depending on the type of breast surgery you need, you may qualify for a rebate from your health fund. Ask your General Practitioner for more information when requesting your referral.

  • Are you considering breast reduction to relieve pain or for aesthetic reasons? During a breast reduction, your breast volume will be reduced and reshaped to position the breast higher on your chest and place your nipple in a new position. Dr Allan routinely performs breast reductions. This is a common operation that has a great ability to provide a better quality of life for patients.

  • After breastfeeding, significant weight loss or natural ageing, you might wish to restore your shape with a breast lift. During this procedure, your breast will be reshaped and placed higher on your chest with a nipple reposition, maintaining volume while creating a more aesthetic shape and contour.

  • Breast augmentation is a popular procedure in Australia, but your decision to undergo this procedure should be made carefully. It’s important that you feel confident in your surgeon’s ability and that they understand your personal goals.

Dr Allan has considerable experience in all aspects of breast surgery, including cosmetic breast augmentation. During this procedure, a prosthesis implant is placed under your breast tissue or under the muscle to enhance the volume and shape of your breasts. Ahead of your procedure, Dr Allan will work with you to choose your implants' final size and shape based on your goals, measurements, and trial prosthesis use.

As of July 1, 2023, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) requires a psychological assessment of all patients seeking cosmetic procedures before surgery. This new requirement ensures patients are suitable for cosmetic surgery and identifies whether they may have an underlying psychological condition.

Our staff at Plastic Surgery Queensland can walk you through the psychological assessment tool, which takes the form of a questionnaire and can answer any questions on this new requirement. As of July 1, 2023, all cosmetic consultations require a referral from your General Practitioner and do not qualify for Medicare rebates.

  • Excess male breast tissue can be a distressing condition that develops during puberty or as a result of hormonal changes. Dr Allan has experience treating Gynaecomastia (male breast) solely with liposuction or a combination of liposuction and surgical excision. If this condition is impacting your confidence or quality of life, it’s worth scheduling a surgical consultation to explore your treatment options.
